In Palestine, the Pomegranate (or Romman in Arabic) is more than a fruit. It’s a symbol of fertility, richness, abundance, prosperity and the richness of the land and heritage. It is deeply integrated into the Palestinian identity appearing in folk, traditional cuisines like rummaniyeh and molasses, as well as handcrafted embroidery.
The belief that one seed in every pomegranate came from paradise, and a popular saying that “the pomegranates fills the heart with faith” furthers solidifies its sacred and cultural significance, representing new beginnings and resilience.
